Chapter 1
Section
8
What
is it and how does it work?
"Section
8 is a government program created for low income families geared
towards helping them with their rent. In some instances, all of
the rent is paid; in others, a portion of the tenant’s rent
is paid and the tenant is responsible for the remainder. In most
cases, the family is also given a utility check. This enables
them to pay their electric, gas, water, etc."
"Another
background check landlords like wasting their time on is calling
the tenant’s present landlord. Forget it! This procedure
usually works in reverse. If a landlord called me and wanted information
about a bad tenant of mine, I would tell him that she is the greatest
tenant in the world. Boy, I’m really gonna miss her. Little
would he know I would be doing back flips and he would be adopting
an asshole tenant of mine."
